Dougie Stringer-Fewtrill, Founder & Director - Path To Independence
Dougie Stringer is the founder and company director of Path To Independence. His journey began when he entered foster care at age 11 after his mother’s suicide and his father’s struggles with alcoholism. Growing up, he experienced over six adverse childhood events, which gave him a deep understanding of trauma. Today, Dougie's mission is to help young people thrive as they transition out of care.
Professionally, he has worked in a residential home in Warrington, spent seven years as a personal advisor within a leaving care team in Cheshire, and currently balances roles as a social worker in a leaving care/Staying Close/Transitions team, director of The Path To Independence App, a steering group member, and a director board member for NASAP. These experiences have provided Dougie with valuable insights into the challenges young people face as they approach 18. He now believes he has developed the perfect solution to address this problem head-on.
