Trailblazing Tech Award - The Finalists!
4We are delighted to announce the three finalists for this year’s Trailblazing tech awards are Boodil, Leafyard and GigPig.
The awards recognise the best in class for pushing the boundaries of technology and inspiring all with ground-breaking solutions among professionals from diverse sectors. On 23rd June at The Lowry Hotel, they will showcase their product and give a full live demonstration in front of the audience at the Trailblazing Tech 2023.
To get to this point our shortlist demonstrated their tech in front of our expert judges and were then put through their paces during our quick fire Q&A. Judges included Jonathan Symcox, BusinessCloud, Nicola Bilner - TLT, Richard Williams – Beever & Struthers, Paul Knight - Mills & Reeve and Vikas Shah - Entrepreneur & Non Executive Director. Our Shortlist were then reduced to the finalists you see below.
A little more about each finalist…
Boodil
Boodil are an open banking payments and consumer engagement platform. Boodil’s Pay by Bank solution offers a rapid payment flow that leverages customers’ banks via mobile or online banking, performing an instant bank transfer. Customers can checkout as quickly as 6 seconds. Merchants can integrate effortlessly and benefit from substantially lower payment processing fees, instant settlement and chargeback elimination. Consumers are rewarded every time they spend as they earn points which can be redeemed within our mobile app. Boodil support eCommerce businesses and more traditional businesses that invoice, through our easy to integrate API, eCommerce plug-ins and Pay-by-Portal product.
Leafyard
Leafyard is a North West based startup that is experiencing rapid growth early. Leafyard is a mental health journey app designed to help people feel more resilient, happy, and mentally fit. It has already helped thousands of people access guidance and support, and there is a wealth of evidence to show it has saved numerous lives since it was first launched 18 months ago. Our secret weapon is AI-driven, habit-building software, and our proven expertise in behavioural science.
GigPig.
GigPig is a live music and entertainment marketplace providing venues of all sizes with a streamlined way to search, book and manage entertainment in-house, while offering artists a free platform to find, play and get paid for gigs. Founded in 2022, GigPig is fast becoming the definitive entertainment platform for venues, artists and UK cities. The platform is currently used by more than 4500 artists and 600 venues nationwide. Its founders have over 30 years combined experience of the music industry and have recently secured seed funding round to support GigPig’s fast growth.

This year saw a record number of entries celebrating the outstanding appetite of start-ups and founders who are pushing the boundaries of technology and inspiring all with ground-breaking solutions in the North West.
